Makabayan, Palaban was originally recorded in 2010 as a campaign song for Satur Ocampo’s bid for Senate in the last May 2010 elections. This is a new version of the same song. A fitting tribute to an erstwhile patriot and defender of human rights and press freedom. Written, arranged and performed by Karl Ramirez.

Mananatili Ka (Mayday’s Ka Bel OST)

Mananatili Ka is the original sound track of Mayday’s documentary film about the life of labor leader Crispin “Ka Bel” Beltran. The song was written by Empiel Palma, arranged and performed by Karl Ramirez.

“Ka Bel” is a production of the Mayday Multimedia Collection in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Crispin B. Beltran Resource Center, Sine Patriyotiko, and Kilusang Mayo Uno.




Makibaka Reprise (Higante’t Tutubi OST)


This electronika-acoustic remake of Makibaka was performed and arranged for Higante’t Tutubi, a short animated feature about the Philippine environment produced by the Center for Environmental Concerns - Philippines. Animation by Audrey Ang and Karlene Co, with story written by Lisa Ito and Mykel Andrada.

I will be participating in the 1st Elements, a national songwriting camp spearheaded by 7101 Music Nation. Makibaka! was the composition I submitted and performed in front of Ryan Cayabyab and the screening panel.

For five days, more than two dozen respected and renowned Artists and practitioners from the Philippine music industry will come to share their talents and experiences through case studies, interactive outdoor sessions, music games, group activities, and one-on-one consultations. A total of sixty (60) aspirants will be accepted to be the first batch of ELEMENTS participants. There are Twenty (20) slots each from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao that will be made available.The process of selection will be through online application and live auditions. It will be handled and overseen by Maestro Ryan Cayabyab and his working team of distinguished songwriters. www.7101musicnation.com.ph




Helping people help themselves is a short thematic video about the Citizens’ Disaster Response Center, an organization committed to empowering communities in facing and coping up with disasters. Written and directed by Karl Ramirez featuring CDRC’s public information staff Angie Isla-Odilao. Alagaan ang Kalikasan, the song used in the video was written, arranged and performed by Karl Ramirez for CDRC’s radio program in Veritas.

It was also mentioned in the article Remembering ‘Ondoy’ and preparing for the worst published in The Manila Times.

Ondoy: Isang Balik-Tanaw event was also highlighted by the launch of “Helping people help themselves,” a short thematic video on volunteerism, and on empowering communities in facing and coping up with disasters. It is written and directed by Karl Ramirez featuring his song “Alagaan ang Kalikasan.”
