Tagapagtanggol ng Bayan is a song I wrote for the National Union of People’s Lawyers (NUPL), a nationwide voluntary association of human rights lawyers in the Philippines committed to the defense, protection, and promotion of human rights, especially of the poor and the oppressed.
Kanilang kailangan
Kaya halina at maglingkod
Maglingkod tayo sa nangangailangan
Nangangailangan ang karamihan
Sa kayraming sulok ng ating bayan
Kapag may inaapi
Tayo’y kanilang kakampi
Tagapagtanggol ng bayan
Alagaan ang Kalikasan (Pansinin ang Kalikasan) is the official theme of CDRC’s 30-minute disaster preparedness segment airing at Radio Veritas DZRV 846 khz every Friday 7:30am. It has been a year since I’ve written and recorded this song and I think the best way to celebrate its timely message is to sing and record it one more time. A jazzy fun beat this time around. :-) Have fun listening!

Alagaan ang Kalikasan (lyrics)
Napapansin nyo bang nagbabago
Halina at ating balikan
Sama sama nating alagaan
Upang panganib ay ating malampasan
Nagpapapansin ang kalikasan
Halina at ating balikan
Sama sama nating alagaan
Upang panganib ay ating
Panganib ay ating
malampasan
Makabayang Himig is an orchestral piece inspired by and partly a rendition of Danny Fabella’s song “Ngayon Na!” for the Makabayan Coalition. Makabayang Himig was composed in September 2009 and was used as musical score in Makabayan’s electoral platform video.
Video ID for Kodao Productions’ Satur: A People’s Tribute series.
Disconnected was composed in 2007 and was used for Kodao’s documentary The Philippines Revisited: Measures Measured.
Some of the music for Agham’s video documentary Prometheus Bound was actually composed and recorded earlier than the video’s production phase. This is the original version of the music used for the opening billboard.
Patalastas is my first original musical score. Recorded in 2003, this short composition was an attempt to familiarize myself with digital audio and multi-track editing. The process I was following then was a very crude one. In fact, I used Adobe Premiere 6, a video editing software to arrange my compositions that year. Everything changed after bumping into Cakewalk in 2004. :-)
