I did the editing and music for the video trailer of “Ang Makata’y Mandirigma, Ang Mandirigma’y Makata”, a Filipino musical inspired by Prof. Joma Sison’s poem The Guerilla is Like a Poet. The musical, directed by Romel Linatoc, weaves together material written by National Artist Bienvenido Lumbera and Palanca awardee Edward Perez for a history of the country’s national democratic movement.
Mandrigma’y Makata was composed for the trailer of “Ang Makata’y Mandirigma, Ang Mandirigma’y Makata”, a Filipino musical which was also released on DVD. You can check out the video trailer here and the DVD at kodao.org.
This is the original rock orchestra rendition of Awit ng Pag-asa I wrote for the epilogue of “Ang Makata’y Mandirigma, Ang Mandirigma’y Makata”. “Ang Makata’y Mandirigma, Ang Mandirigma’y Makata” musical director Rica Palis and production manager Walkie Miraña fused the music I created for the musical’s final chapter with libretto of Edward Perez and parts of the progressive song “Pagbabalikwas”.
